"These records (Dookie and American Idiot) came out 10 years apart and they’re milestones in our career, so we’re going to be playing Dookie in its entirety and American Idiot in its entirety." It was January 17, 2024, and Billie Joe Armstrong, frontman of Green Day, revealed to Howard Stern how they wanted to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Dookie and the 20th anniversary of American Idiot. Just a couple of days before the release of their 14th album Saviors, but frankly, we didn’t care about that anymore. A tour that promised to be epic and, even though it’s still in its early stages, will surely go down in history. On June 16, 2024, in Milan at the I-Days, Green Day made us relive those emotions that most of us had only partially experienced through watching the videos of Bullet in a Bible, a live album of one of their most famous concerts ever held at Milton Keynes in 2005. Last Sunday’s concert is one of those that makes you go like “I was there.” Disclaimer: although ...

"Metallica are the crème de la crème of those kinds of bands; you can’t really define them as heavy metal, they’re a musical band. The songs aren’t just heavy metal; they’re beautiful songs,” said Elton John in an interview for the 30th anniversary of Metallica’s Black Album, where he covered “Nothing Else Matters” with Miley Cyrus. Metallica is probably one of the first bands to succeed in making a genre that previously struggled to reach everyone’s homes mainstream. Without them, many successful bands today probably wouldn’t exist. The first time I came into contact with Metallica was around 2010 when I saw the video of "Enter Sandman" live at the 1991 Moscow concert, and at the time, I was too young to understand why so many people liked that noise. Over time, I learned to appreciate heavy metal, and that noise became music. Performance When you are in front of such a legendary band, it’s impossible not to be in awe. Despite the nearly 30 degrees Celsius, I got gooseb...

On a Monday evening that was meant for college, I was preparing to attend my last class of the day. With dark, baggy circles underneath my eyes, I wondered would I be able to withstand two more monotonous hours of grim lectures. Then, as if by godsend, I saw I had a message. That text went something along the lines of: “Want to go see The Hives tonight?” “The Hives?” I thought to myself. Who the hell are The Hives? Are they a pop band? A jazz band? Distant relatives of mine looking for money? I started browsing the web for a ticket and saw that the doors to the gig would open in roughly two hours. I couldn’t go to this gig, could I? My very important studies must come first surely? I mean, I still have one more class today…. But we all know what they say about best laid plans right? So, I bought that damn ticket and got the bus into the city. Totally rejuvenated for the rest of the day, I reassured myself that I would definitely watch that recorded lecture the following day. ...

Heads up: This review contains spoilers from the last season of Peaky Blinders. If you haven’t seen it already, that is not our fault it has been out for two years now, sorry not sorry. The sound of a very unorthodox set of piano keys follows one another, as if they were not supposed to be played like that, because it has never been before. Tommy Shelby lies outside of his carriage, over the grass, right next to the floating ashes and burnt rocks left over from the extinguished fire. We hear Thom Yorke’s falsetto and a bass drop as a crow flies over Tommy. This is how I found out about ‘Pana-vision’ and The Smile. Throughout the last season of Peaky Blinders, we see a lot of their work, some of it from their first album A Light for Attracting Attention, and some of it still unreleased at the time. I remember the synthesiser stretching and bending as Arthur hugged Tommy after finding out about his sickness, which broke the internet since nobody knew what song that was. That turned out...
